If you happen to be fighting between 23 Dec 2023 and 1 January 2024, and use the new rules, that's acceptable as they have already been approved by the Board and Committee, just make sure you and your opponent and your marshal agree which set of rules to play by.

Update - 3 November 2025

Greetings,

After we published the approved version of the updated fencing rules, we spotted that we had inadvertently reduced the required limb protection for cut and thrust combat when we updated the rules to account for the new reduced armour requirements from standard fencing. This was not intended. We have corrected this error to bring us back into compliance with Society rules.

See Protective equipment 8.6 - Legs, feet and arms.

New rules - 4 October 2025

With the announcement by the Crown at Spring War on 4 October 2025, version 7 of the Lochac Fencing Combat Handbook comes into effect.
